Hi everyone, sorry for lack of replies or posts lately. I have exams coming up at school so I haven't had a chance to work on the models properly. The mod will be good to go by Christmas regardless though! I will spend December getting the zippleback and gronkle done while builttrooper is doing the nightmare. Otherwise, progress is going good. One of the team members managed to find a page on the httyd site with all of the sounds on which makes life a little easier for us Also, Sadret is developing a program designed specifically for our mod which is pretty cool and the dragon AI is getting closer to being finished.

The Zippleback model is nearing completion, and the Nightmare model production has started. Just the Gronkle after that, and then the code, and we are good to go for V1! Weapons are fully functional and Hiccup's Gliding suit that has been spoken about is almost at 100% completion and trust me, it's a hell of a lot of fun to use
Monthly update 3 :
Quick monthly update #3 (although its been close to 5 months with no updates) : Your in for a shock, because we have been working on a few new plans for the coming christmas release : the alpha dragon update! We have many surprises in store, but right now we need animators and coders! We have a single coder, but the more we have the faster we get done. Please apply on the website and show off your skills guys. Also : we are still very much recruiting for the mod team. Lacy99 was originally planning to split the mod team into 3 teams : texture, models, and code, however we did not really get enough people onboard to have a code team and the idea fell apart. We don't want to make one man do all the work alone, so if anyone would like to help us out, in any means, we have alot of positions open : we still need dragons textured for the christmas update, we still need modelers to help our current modelers make dragons faster, and we need as many coders as humanly possible. We also have a new job : after seeing some impressive results from the pixelmon mod, I think we may need an animating team on the mod shortly after its release. Thanks to yet ANOTHER coder who decides to vanish, we have come to a halt once again. The whole team is now going to "attempt" to code but no way will we be able to complete this mod without someone who knows what they are doing. We need a new coder so if you are experienced with code, we need you to put in a request. We aren't looking for anyone who is "just starting to code" or "willing to learn" (which is what the requests to join normally look like), we need a coder(s) who knows what they are doing. This post also goes to everyone else, if you know a GOOD coder, or you know of good coders looking for work, please can you put us into contact with them. We really are sorry to have to tell you guys things like this because we know a lot of you are excited for the mod (as are we). But we want the whole HTTYMD community to get involved and help us finish this mod off. This team has much bigger plans for the future than modding minecraft so we really do want to get the mod finished.

Again, we are sorry for the lack of any real progress since the mod's start but it really is down to the apparent shortage of coders on MC forum.

Hello everybody, here is a small update.
Just finished the baby nadder model. The group is meeting tomorrow to update the web and forum and check the work done so far. Hope you get more stuff then!:D
quick monthly update : since its the beginning of summer and most of the mod-team is really hard-pressed for time we're finding it difficult to get much done. The skrill is almost entirely done, and a zippleback is probably gonna be planned next. we are also waiting for the new movie to come out before starting any "major" changes because we don't yet know how it will effect the dragon designs from the first film.
Anyone who would love to contribute in any way, we could use all the help we can get!
I would like to report that we are still very busy doing things. The skrill (while being a great dragon) is having some modeling complications that will be taken care of very soon. We have finished collecting sound for the night fury, and the mod will have its first implemented dragon in about a month. Remember : this is a wip mod, and this mod will not be out for a LONG time. I recommend you guys hang tight and be patient, possibly go familiarize yourself with your favorite dragon.
Now to answer common questions :
Will the dragons be hostile?
The idea right now is that there will be a variety of ways to tame different dragons. Although I am not personally one of the coders, I believe that dragon taming will work in a similar way to when you look at an enderman except that by looking at it, something else happens. I also think there will be a tame feature similar to ocelots, in that if you approach certain dragons with a fish you can tame them.
The hostility of the dragons will vary depending on A : how you play and B: however lacy wants them to attack. sieges on villages are not out of the question!
Will speeds be implemented :
Right at the moment, probably not. the reason is because the game has specific flying mechanics, there is limited things we could do with either ghasts, blaze, or enderdragon flight code. Not to mention it may conflict with their AI. So at the moment all dragons will have a limited flight speed (if at all).
Will they be tamable :
Dang right they will be.
How will the rp work?
The general concensus (idea from everyone involved) is that you will spawn in a world with a custom map or generator. You will have a series of objectives you can do similar to skyrim or pokemon. There will be various bosses, dragon types, and npcs. They will occasionally go to war with each other. Possibilities of two modes were suggested a while back : A past mode where the dragons are always hostile, night and day (but under some circumstances still tamable) , and a future mode where the dragons are friendly unless attacked. this is based off the story and movies timeline.
The map will most likely be a custom map, as some people may want dragons on one of their already made worlds. the idea of a add-on generator mod has not been ruled out. Consult the coders for information on that. That's this months update see you soon Dragon Tamers!
